Lily Kelly Napangardi
Lily Kelly Napangardi was born circa 1948 in the Haasts Bluff region, 325km north-west of Alice Springs and now resides in Mt Leibig in central Australia. Her language group is Warlpiri and she is a respected senior law woman within her community.Lily Kelly Napangardi began painting in the early 1980s, won the Northern Territory Art Award for Excellence in Aboriginal Painting in 1986 and was a finalist in the Telstra National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Art Award (NATSIAA) in 2003. She is considered to be amongst Australiaʼs distinguished aboriginal artists, named in 2006 as one of Australiaʼs 50 most collectable artists by Australian Art Collector magazine.
Lily’s work is held in private and corporate collections in Australia and throughout the world, the National Gallery of Australia, state galleries throughout the country and art museums in Europe.
