Stephanie Outridge FieldStephanie is a respected Brisbane-based artist whose arts practice has been extensive and diverse since graduating from the Sydney College of Art in the early 1980s.
Stephanie works in ceramic and mixed media to produce two and three-dimensional works of various scales. Her work ranges from naively-stylized and often very personal ceramic exhibition pieces to large-scale sculptural elements for installation in major commercial and public precincts. She is recognised in her home state as an innovator in the fabrication of architectural ceramics to be used in the public realm and her work is seen in pavements, walls and as 3-D installation throughout south-east Queensland, including some regional centres.
Stephanie has a long and distinguished career in the education sector in the development of Arts and Community Cultural Development programs from preschool to tertiary environments. Her arts practice also extends to creating works with community, including disabled groups, refugees and schoolchildren, amongst many others.
Stephanie has been a prominent public speaker at Arts seminars and symposia in Queensland, and is regularly called upon to mentor young artists, curate exhibitions, develop processes for community engagement, judge art shows and contribute articles to national and international ceramic art journals.
Stephanie is one of those rare individuals who not only is engaged in the concepts and technology associated with the creation and production of art, but is actively involved in making art available as a process and way of thinking for others.
